John Batchelor has more than 26 years of experience in restructuring, corporate recovery, and transaction advisory. John returned to Australia in 2021 after 16 years in Hong Kong, where he served as Co-Head of FTI Consulting’s Asian operations and Head of the Asian Corporate Finance practice.

John has led some of Asia’s largest restructuring and insolvency matters and has extensive experience in undertaking large investigations into fraud and asset striping within a formal insolvency framework throughout Hong Kong, the People’s Republic of China (“PRC”) and other parts of Asia.

In addition, John has undertaken a number of informal management roles for British Virgin Islands (“BVI”) and Cayman Island entities with assets in Asia Pacific and the Middle East, including numerous hedge funds.

Further, John has also worked on several restructuring, transaction advisory and due diligence assignments for investment banks and funds throughout Asia.

Prior to FTI Consulting, John was an executive director of Ferrier Hodgson. He began his career with Ferrier Hodgson in Melbourne in 1996 and relocated to Hong Kong in 2004.
